We were moving lambs in and out of fields at pace, with no stragglers or distressed lambs – a rare sight and our work was done much more quickly. We will continue to use ClipFitter in future years

Tail docking and castration of lambs is a topic that is on our radar to follow carefully over the next couple of years for changes in interpretation, rules or regulations that may come about as a result of the AWC report.

We can confirm that ClipFitter is legal to use in England, as long as the procedure is carried out on a lamb aged not more than 7 days.

It would be greatly beneficial for the sheep industry if technical changes to the legislation in Wales could be made as soon as possible to allow the use of Clipfitter on lambs up to three months old

Emerging evidence suggests that it is a practical and feasible alternative to the use of rubber rings that results in greatly reduced pain responses to castration and tail docking carried out separately.

I am thrilled with the Clipfitter. It took a bit to get used too, and the lambs need to be chunky (and have testicles that have enough weight to droop). But now I know that I find it really easy to use and the lambs are barely impacted. It is a brilliant product and I have been asked to join a webinar for farmers about it in September.

We found Clipfitter excellent...once we got used to using it.
We had abandoned rings for castration so needed to find a better method for castration..... Given the type of sheep we keep, all woolly tailed, we had continued to use rings for tails. This year we used ClipFitter for both and were really pleased with the results.....
